Hello, my Name is Christina Alexander and I am a former foster child. My twin sister Nina, and I used to have the indignity of carrying our belongings in trash bags. When I was younger around 12 or 13, I remember going to school in the morning and being called to the office. Only, to find my belongings in trash bags and it was off to another foster home. Having gone to the office and having my belongings in a trash bag made being moved even worse.
Therefore, I am calling for No More trash bags for foster children. My husband Eric Alexander in 2020 founded Loving Our Kids 365, Inc is a 501.c3 nonprofit organization, which gives dignity to foster children, one piece of luggage at a time. They collect new or gently used luggage to give to foster children when moved and replaced. Together let's make sure No More trash bags are used for foster children.

My name is Nina and my twin sister, Christina and I were in the foster-care system together. As a former foster child all I can remember is when I was 12, or almost 13 standing in the doorway of my new foster home with everything I owned in a trash bag. I was already scared and anxious and now I was also ashamed. It was as if I were in the trash bag, because my treasures were in there. As a young girl having to be constantly moved in a trash bag just added to my feelings of being lost and unwanted. Personally, having experienced this embarrassment just added to an already terrible situation.
Allowing the foster children to move their belonging in dignity would bring them some type of comfort. Therefore, an organization such as Loving Our Kids 365,Inc would be helpful. It would allow dignity and value for the foster children by giving the foster kids a piece of luggage and the self-worth, they deserve. I believe this is a great program to donate to. Please join me in loving our kids 365 days of the year and making them feel special.
